Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the PocketFX mobile application (“App”), published by DirectEx Pty Ltd (“we”, “us”). It is separate from the privacy policy for the DirectEx website at directex.com.au/privacy.

PocketFX helps you track expenses and view amounts in different currencies. We designed the App to keep your expense data on your device and to minimise what we collect.

1. Information we use

Approximate location (country / currency only)

The App may use your device’s approximate location permission (or equivalent locale / region settings) solely to determine a likely country and default currency. We do not collect, store, or transmit precise GPS coordinates, street-level location, or a location history.

Expense and app data (on your device)

Expense entries and related app settings you create are stored locally on your device. We do not upload this data to our servers as part of the App’s normal operation.

What we do not collect

• Precise location or coordinates
• Advertising identifiers for ads
• Analytics or tracking profiles for marketing
• Account passwords for PocketFX (the App does not require a PocketFX user account for core local expense tracking)

2. How we use information

• Approximate country / region: to set a sensible default currency and display amounts appropriately
• Local expense data: only on your device, so you can record and review your expenses in the App

We do not sell personal information. We do not share your expense data with third parties for advertising or analytics. The App does not include ads or third-party analytics SDKs.

3. Third-party services

Exchange rates — Open Exchange Rates

To convert currencies, the App may request foreign exchange rate data from Open Exchange Rates (or its API). Those requests are for rate information. Your expense entries are not sent to Open Exchange Rates as part of that rate lookup.

Open Exchange Rates processes data under its own terms and privacy policy. Please review their documentation if you want details about their service.

We do not sell your information to third parties, and we do not use third-party advertising or analytics in PocketFX.

4. Data storage and retention

Expense and related app data remain on your device until you delete them in the App or uninstall the App (which typically removes local app data, subject to your device and OS behaviour).

Because core expense data is stored locally, we do not operate a PocketFX cloud copy of your expenses that you can request us to delete from our servers. If you clear app data or uninstall, local data is removed according to your device settings.

5. Children

PocketFX is not directed at children. Do not use the App if you are not old enough to consent to processing under the laws that apply to you.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
